CATS BY THE COAST POLICIES


Cats By The Coast (CBTC) Policies
The following policies have been established in order to provide the best service for you and your cat(s).  It also serves as a binding agreement/contract between CBTC/Susan Colette & client.  

Consultation Visit 
The goal of this mandatory meeting is for me to meet the client, introduce me to their cat(s), walk me through any of their cat(s) routines and determine that CBTC services meets their needs and complies with all of CTBC's policies.  This meeting is NOT a guarantee of CBTC sitting services.  It is recommended that the client schedules this meeting in advance of their travels if possible to ensure they have proper care if accepted.  All clients must fill out a complete online profile with all requested information pertaining to their cat(s) and home care prior to this meeting. The online profile requires little time to complete; on average 5-10 minutes.  The initial 20 minute consultation is complimentary. If a second consultation is requested for any reason Client agrees to pay a full visit charge.  

Portal/Online Profile's
This is a secure online system for client to provide all their home information and cat(s) information.  Client is responsible to have this information updated and correct at all times and before each requested booking.  All vaccinations and cat(s) medical information is to be up to date, accurate and truthful. 

Payment
Payments for sitting services are due in full on or before the first day of booked visits. CBTC accepts Cash, Check, Venmo or Apple Cash. CBTC accepts online payments through Visa, MasterCard, American Express & Discover with a percentage added for processing fee's.  If Client requests to extend service, the Client guarantees immediate payment for any added visits.  A $25 late payment fee will be assessed for each day past due.    

Cancellations/Reservations
Reservations/request for cat sitting service(s) can be submitted up to 30 days in advance of client's travel departure date. For early return and cancellation of service (for non-holiday reservations), a 24 hour notice is required or Client will be charged the rate of one visit. After cancellation fees, any remaining balance will be applied as credit to future pet sittings visits ONLY. No cash refunds will be given. Credits will be honored for 3 months or end of calendar year; whichever comes first.  Holiday period reservations that include Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, New Years Day, Easter, Memorial Day, 4th of July & Labor Day require at least a 7-day notice for any changes and cancellations. Client will be charged a $125 fee for cancelling a Holiday reservation. No balance will be credited for early returns during Holiday periods.  

Medications/Emergency Care
Medications (pills) are administered via food/treats only; CBTC does not "pill cats".  Liquid medications can/will be administered on a case by case basis dependent on felines cooperation.  CBTC does not service care for diabetic felines.  In the event of a pets medical emergency; baring that the cat is current w/a Rabies Vaccination will be taken to the closest emergency clinic; being either Emergency Veterinary Group, Encinitas OR VCA, Carlsbad. CBTC/Susan Colette will NOT handle any cat that is not current with a Rabies Vaccination.  Client is encouraged to have an account set up with either facility prior to their travels. Client understands and agrees that all attempts will be made to contact them in case of such emergency and/or health concern.  If client is reached and denies vet care for any reason CBTC/Susan Colette will not be held responsible for the cat(s) ailment/illness upon client's return home.  Client accepts/understands Susan Colette is neither a Veterinarian or Vet Technician and will not attempt to give any diagnosis regarding questionable health concerns.  Client agrees to have a credit card on file or have made arrangements with their vet for any expenses. Client agrees to a surcharge of $120/p hr. for transport to a vet for an emergency ONLY.  CBTC does not offer elective vet visit transport for non life threatening matters.  Client also agrees to reimburse CBTC for any additional food or supplies needed. Client agree's to make CBTC aware of all their cat(s) current & non current vaccinations.  Should Pet Sitter be bitten or otherwise exposed to any disease or aliment received from Client's cat which has not been properly vaccinated, it will be the Client's responsibility to pay all costs and damages incurred by the victim.  

Key Policy
Client agree's to provide CBTC a working house key to be kept on file or a safe lockbox location if client does not wish to make a copy. If Client lives in a gated community or building, Client must provide appropriate access code(s), gate card or remote. If Client requires an alarm system to be disarmed & activated by pet sitter before & after the pet sitter's scheduled visits, Client is to provide detailed instructions along with code. CBTB is not responsible for any malfunction/activation of the alarm outside of the pet sitter's scheduled visits.  Although highly not recommended; In instances where a Client chooses to leave a hide-a-key or leave a key in a discreet place of their choosing for CBTC to use during the booking, CBTC assumes no responsibility for any wrong doing caused to a cat(s) or their home before, during or after the booking.  Should a key become unusable, lock malfunction, Client fails to leave a key, Client is responsible for contacting a locksmith to resolve the issue. 

Terms and Conditions
Client and Susan Colette/Cats By The Coast (CBTC) herein agree as follows:

1. Due to the extreme unpredictability of animals, CBTC cannot be held responsible for any unusual mishaps (i.e. pet's refusal to take medication, escaping from the yard, biting, eating or destroying household items, damage to inside/outside of the home, personal injury or accidental death).  For the safety of all Client's cat(s) all are to remain indoors for the duration of pet sitting service; NO exceptions.  If Client goes against this agreement and allows their cat(s) to have outside access (enclosed space or not) while under the care of CBTC/Susan Colette; Client releases CBTC/Susan Colette from any and all liability for loss, injury or death to their cat(s).  

2. It is recommended that all cats are to be currently vaccinated with their Rabies and FVRCP Vaccine; CBTC/Susan Colette reserves the right to omit the handling of any cat(s) whom are not current with a Rabies Vaccination.  Cat(s) are to be verified indoor only. If client is not transparent with this information and should Susan Colette/CBTC be bitten or otherwise exposed to any disease or ailment received from Client's cat(s), a doctor's report will be filed and it will be the Client's responsibility to pay all costs and damages incurred by the victim.  

3. Client authorizes CBTC to take photos and/or videos of Client's cat(s) for their file, for catsbythecoast.com Website and Yelp business page. All photos and videos taken are the property of CBTC.

4. Client takes full responsibility for PROMPT payment of fees as agreed in Paragraph 2 of Policies above. All payments are due on the day of the first visit. Client will be charged on any/all returned checks. In the event it is necessary to initiate collection proceedings on an account, Client will be responsible for all attorney's fees and costs of collection. Any dispute regarding any aspect of this agreement shall be resolved by arbitration or small claims court and any decision made shall be final and binding.  

5. Client understands that the rates and fees detailed by CBTC are subject to change at any time and without notice. Rates are not subject to negotiation. Client agrees to these rates and fees with No exceptions. Any additional visits made or services performed due to late return of Client shall be paid for at the agreed contract rate.  

6. A minimum of 1 daily visit every 24 hours is required; no exceptions. CBTC/Susan Colette will not share cat sitting service with ANY other person; NO exceptions. Visitation times are approximate and subject to change based on the needs of all cats under Susan Colette/CBTC's care. Susan Colette/CBTC is entrusted to use the best judgement in caring for cat(s) and home, in the event of an emergency situation, inclement weather or natural disaster, CBTC will be held harmless for consequences related to such decisions.  

7. In the event of injury or illness to Susan Colette, or any other emergency circumstances where duties are unable to be performed, being a sole owned business without employees, Client understands/agree's their Emergency Contact on file will be responsible for care of their cat(s).  

8. CBTC/Susan Colette reserves the right to terminate this Client agreement at ANY TIME and for ANY REASON before or during its term.  

9. CBTC/Susan Colette agrees to provide the services in this agreement in a professional, reliable, caring and trustworthy manner. In consideration of these services, Client waives any and all claims against CBTC except those arising from negligence or willful misconduct on part of CBTC or Susan Colette.  

10. Client agrees to have a credit card on file with their primary veterinarian as well as their account established with either VEG or VCA in the event of an emergency. 

11. Client agrees CBTC/Susan Colette is to be the only person allowed in the home while under contract/performing cat sitting services.  CBTC respectfully requests that housekeeping be scheduled around kitty visits.  If housekeeping, construction or any other visitation is allowed by Client during CBTC scheduled visits whether known or unknown Client releases CBTC/Susan Colette of ANY AND ALL liability of their cat(s), cat(s) care and their home. 
 
12. Client authorizes this signed contract to be valid approval for initial and all future services provided by this contract until either party provides written notice of termination, permitting Susan Colette/CBTC to accept online reservations for service and enter premises without additional signed contracts or written authorization.
